Mission 9 takes place on November 13, 2160 and is part of the Guerrilla War campaign.

Briefing[ | ]

OK, people, listen up.

We have received reports of a large Coalition strike force headed our way. A command ship and escort carriers support them. Headquarters has teamed us up with the ANS Endeavor and her base squadron, the Hell Cats, so we're in good company. The key objective will be to attack the Coalition class 2 carrier. Once the carrier is engaged, a Marine boarding craft will hit the command ship, where we hope to obtain vital data about enemy movements. Lt. Commander Stahl will be joining the Marine boarding party. His knowledge of Coalition craft and systems should prove useful.

Your objectives are as follows:

The Reliant, Endeavor, and Hell Cats will engage the carrier group, while Alpha Wing will proceed to the rear of the convoy and disable the command ship and its escort, allowing the boarding ship to move in and dock. Once the marines get on board the command ship, the boarding craft will disengage and wait for the pick-up signal. After pick-up, rendez-vous with the Reliant at the pre-arranged nav point.

If all goes according to plan, we will gain valuable information which will help reinforce our position in this quadrant. I'll be flying this mission and coordinating operations with the Hell Cats on the diversionary attack. Pay attention to your comms and follow orders.

Everyone clear? Time to lock and load, people.

Recommended loadout[ | ]

  • A Coyote is a balanced choice for the mission and tackling the enemy fighters. However, a Grendel, Crusader, or Mirage IV might be a better choice if you want the attack on the Kozah to be easier.

Walkthrough[ | ]

  • After you launch from the Reliant, it receives the all-clear from the Endeavor and moves out. Jump out once prompted and start clearing the path towards the command ship. Your opposition contains primarily of Sabers and two Kurgens. Hit the Sabers on the way to the Berijev and take out its engines, one on both sides, to allow you take the fighters out at your leisure, then clear them and the Kurgens out. Your next objective is to take out the turrets on the Berijev.
  • The boarding ship jumps in and makes for the Berijev. A wing of Saracens jumps in. Focus on taking them out, but the boarding ship is generally fast enough to make it to the Berijev in time.
  • Once they're gone, make a hard burn for the CS Kozah and target its engines and shield generator to meet the bonus objective. Once the boarding ship retreats, the ANS Endeavor will jump out due to taking too much damage and leave the ANS Reliant to finish the job. With the generators gone, the Reliant launches a torpedo strike that takes the carrier out.
  • After the area is mopped up, Stahl broadcasts a distress call. You're ordered to jump out while the Hell Cats remain to provide fighter cover. As it turns out, McGann and the Cobras decided to target the codes and the ship. Once Stahl refuses to give them up, they decide to kill him.
  • McGann will pull out once he loses four wingmen or takes 40% damage. Either cycle through hostile targets (they show up as green on the HUD, in the usual hostile target space) and find McGann or take to dismantling his wing. They are flying Patriots and Coyotes, so be prepared for an agile fight.
  • Once they retreat, using warp projectors, land on the Reliant.

Outcomes[ | ]

  • Success + Bonus: Boarding ship survives and the Kozah is destroyed.
  • Success: Boarding ship survives.
  • Fail + Kick out: Berijev escaped or the boarding ship was destroyed.
