559th Hornets (559a Calabroni) is a 
Western Alliance squadron in Starlancer.

Italy's 559th has been battling the Coalition since the beginning of this conflict. In early engagements, the enemy nicknamed them the Hornets, due to their swarming tactics. This attacking formation has proven so successful that Alliance High Command is thinking of adopting it as standard operation procedure. The Hornets kill ratio has been listed as high as 3-1, but is only confirmed as 2-1.
Unfortunately, the Hornets were destroyed on July 10, 2160. While protecting innocent civilian transports, the Hornets were ambushed by the notorious Black Guard, led by Ivan "The Butcher" Petrov.
