45th Tigers is a Western Alliance squadron in Starlancer.
Background[edit | edit source]
The 45th Volunteers were quickly formed to help the Alliance replace its depleted numbers at the outset of this conflict. Comprised mainly of former military and civilian personnel, the 45th is under the command of squadron leader Maria Enriquez, a skilled tactician who has earned several commendations as a combat pilot. Short on training, the 45th has a lot to prove in a short period of time.
The rag tag outfit that had little hope of surviving the early months of the conflict became the only remaining Volunteer squadron still operative. They are fast becoming one of the Alliance's top squadrons and have survived several high-risk operations. Led by Maria Enriquez, the Tigers are known for their guts and tenacity in combat, with an ability to react to situations as they arise. Their kill ratio for capital ships and fighters is now one of the highest among Alliance squadrons.
Elements[edit | edit source]
- Alpha wing: The primary wing of the 45th, consisting of six fighters, including you, the player. Alpha wing has a wing leader (Alpha One) and his wingman (Alpha Five), who cannot be shot down (they are necessary for communications and advancing the plot), but can be damaged, severely degrading their performance.
- Gamma wing: The bomber wing, consisting of two bombers (most commonly the Hades, less frequently the Galahad), used to take out capital ships, installations, and so on. Gamma wing will typically require protection and paying close attention to them at all times, especially in missions where they are essential to completing the objectives. See campaign missions for details.
